This Chicken tastes like T-Rex

I find the neatest stories on Google News...

Protein retrieved from a 68 millon-year-old Tyrannosaurus rex bone closely resembles the main protein in chicken and ostrich bones and is only distantly related to lizards', strengthening the popular idea that birds, and not reptiles, are the closest living relatives of dinosaurs.

In the late 80's I read The Dinosaur Heresies by Dr. Robert Bakker and when that book was written the idea that Dinosaurs evolved into birds really was complete heresy. Nevertheless it was a fascinating book and I learned a lot from it.

And now it looks like DNA evidence is confirming Dr. Bakker's original theory.

But this report is not without its detractors. Dr. Pavel Pezner says that "Serious evolutionary biologists will laugh reading this piece." As Darth Vader would say: I find his lack of faith disturbing.

So, a little something to pique your curiosity on a Friday afternoon.
