The Gods Must Not Be Crazy

Very interesting article out today in The Independent , from the UK, saying that all humans on Earth are descended from the San people from southern Africa.
The San people of southern Africa, who have lived as hunter-gatherers for thousands of years, are likely to be the oldest population of humans on Earth, according to the biggest and most detailed analysis of African DNA. The San, also known as bushmen, are directly descended from the original population of early human ancestors who gave rise to all other groups of Africans and, eventually, to the people who left the continent to populate other parts of the world.
You might remember that the San people were featured in the 1980 movie The Gods Must Be Crazy and have a unique "click" language.

I find all of this absolutely fascinating. As science advances we come closer and closer to knowing the full story of our origins on this plant. Unfortunately for the fundies we also have proved, once and for all, that we were not created by some benevolent sky-buddy who is intensely interested in our sex lives but we evolved over the course of millions of years. So... Darwin is right.

This does little to make our lives better, but it does make us smarter about ourselves and science and the positive effects it can have on our lives. Go forth and learn; make the world a better place with your knowledge.
